School and district leaders are increasingly becoming aware of the connection between academic and even athletic success to students’ behavioral, social-emotional, and mental health/well-being outcomes. An increasing number of districts and schools are creating a vision of the student who graduates from their school as well rounded, happy, healthy, and wholesome. Consequently, there is a clear call to teach the students the competencies and skills that lead to success in learning, play, friendships, sports, work, and life while in school and after graduating.
Moreover, research suggests that when adults learn, practice, and model these social-emotional, behavioral, and well-being skills, there is a high likelihood that there will be improvement in school climate and culture.
