Elementary Advanced Course – Haverford, PA

Now take your SEL teaching skills to the next level with our Advanced Course!


The Elementary Advanced Course is designed to increase your knowledge and expand your teaching strategies and practices to strengthen the Responsive Classroom approach you’re already using. In this four-day, interactive training course, you will learn new methods and strategies including:

  • Engaging Academics: Teacher Language, Open-ended Questions, Academic Choice, and Guided Discovery. We’ll also cover the Language of Learning, including core thinking, speaking and listening skills.
  • Effective Management: Classroom Organization, as well as Effective Behavior Management tools such as Problem-Solving Conferences and Role-Play.
  • And much more

Prerequisite: 4-day Elementary Core Course
Suitable for grades K – 6

Resources included: Resource Book and Joyful Classroom

Check-in/Welcome: 7:30 am – 8:30 am
Session begins: 8:30 am

Meet the Presenters

Kristina Miller

Kristina “Tina” serves as principal at Howe Elementary for the Wisconsin Rapids Public School District. During her 18-year educational career, she has been a second grade teacher, Educator Effectiveness coach, and professional development facilitator, and served on the charter dream, design, and implementation team for Mead Elementary Charter School in Wisconsin Rapids. As a National Board certified teacher, Tina embraces innovative and results-based facilitation of learning for all.


Margie Dorshorst

Margie has an extensive education career spanning 33 years and has served as an elementary principal, speech-language pathologist, Able Learner teacher, and staff development facilitator in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Through her various roles, she has helped create systems that empower teachers and schools to design and implement innovative practices, and she is committed to supporting teachers and schools with the tools and systems that propel all children to academic and social success.
