What to Expect
What is the schedule?
Most workshops begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. After you register, you will receive a confirmation email with more detailed information about the schedule for your particular course.
Do I need to bring a lunch?
We provide lunch for most full-day trainings. A varied selection of food will be available. If you have any specific dietary needs, including vegetarian, please let us know when you register so that we can accommodate you. If you think the lunch we provide might not work for you, you may choose to bring your own.
Morning refreshments will be available every day.
What else should I bring?
Dress comfortably and expect to be active. Plan for warm weather and for air conditioning. You may wish to bring: your own bottle of water, a camera to take photos of informational charts, and/or a seat cushion for your chair.
Who will teach my course?
Your presenter will be an experienced classroom teacher who is familiar with the grade level you teach. S/he has completed a rigorous certification program that includes learning to implement Responsive Classroom masterfully in a classroom setting and learning to teach Responsive Classroom principles and practices to adults.
Who will be in my group?
You'll spend most of your day with a group of teachers who teach similar grades. This means the classroom situations you discuss and the sample strategies you learn will be geared for the grade you teach. You'll have a chance to tell us which grade-level you want to be assigned to when you register.
Can I purchase books?
Yes! Workshop participants will receive 20% off orders and free shipping to anywhere in the U.S., including AK, HI, U.S. territories, and military bases on all orders placed at the workshop!
How many credit hours will I receive?
A 6-hour certificate of attendance is awarded to one-day workshop participants.
A 14-hour certificate of attendance is awarded to two-day workshop participants.
A 28-hour certificate of attendance is awarded to multi-day workshop participants. You must attend all 28 hours of the workshop in order to receive the certificate and to count the workshop as a prerequisite for further training. In addition, workshop participants can earn graduate-level professional development credit (2-credit and 3-credit options) through Brandman University.
