What to Expect
What is the schedule?
Most workshops and institutes begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. Week-long institutes end at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. After you register, you will receive a confirmation email with more detailed information about the schedule for your particular course.
Do I need to bring a lunch?
We provide lunch on the 3:30 dismissal days. If you have dietary restrictions, you'll have a chance to let us know about them when you register. If you think the lunch we provide might not work for you, you may choose to bring your own lunch.
Who will teach my course?
Your presenter will be an experienced classroom teacher who is familiar with the grade level you teach. S/he has completed a rigorous certification program that includes learning to implement Responsive Classroom masterfully in a classroom setting and learning to teach Responsive Classroom principles and practices to adults.
Who will be in my group?
You'll spend most of your day with a group of teachers who teach similar grades. This means the classroom situations you discuss and the sample strategies you learn will be geared for the grade you teach. You'll have a chance to tell us which grade-level you want to be assigned to when you register.
How many credit hours will I receive?
A 6-hour certificate of attendance is awarded to one-day workshop participants.
A 30-hour certificate of attendance is awarded to week-long institute participants. In addition, institute participants can earn graduate-level professional development credit (2-credit and 3-credit options) through Brandman University. Learn more about credit options through Brandman University.
