Would your school like to host a summer institute?

We are currently seeking host sites for summer 2010. Our week-long summer institutes are held at host site schools we select according to various criteria, including location and our space requirements. Host schools receive tuition credit for five participants. More information

Interested in on-site training during the school year?

Responsive Classroom week-long institutes can also be presented as a series of sessions on-site at your school. Schools interested in having a week-long institute at their site must guarantee a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 25 participants for each section they request. $14,500 per section, including expenses. How to Register

There are four ways to register for Responsive Classroom summer institutes.

1. Online. We accept only MasterCard and Visa for online registrations. To use a purchase order, see option 3.

2. Call us at 800-360-6332 x 130.
We accept only MasterCard and Visa for phone registrations.

3. Fax your signed purchase order plus our registration form to 877-206-3952. Please complete one registration form per attendee.

4.  Mail our registration form with a check, money order, or purchase order. Please complete one registration form per attendee. Mail to: NEFC Registrations, 85 Avenue A, Suite 204, P.O. Box 718, Turners Falls, MA 01376-0718.

Registration Information

Tuition is $695. Tuition includes all materials, morning refreshments, and lunch Monday through Thursday (Friday is a half day).

Payment or signed purchase order must accompany registration. We cannot hold spaces prior to payment. If it takes more than a few days for your school to prepare a purchase order, we suggest that you pay up front and then have your school reimburse you.

Payment methods for individuals
You may pay by check, Visa, or MasterCard. If paying by check, fill out the registration form and include it with your check. Make checks payable to "NEFC, Inc". 

Purchase orders
School purchase orders must be mailed or faxed to us at 877-206-3952. Along with your signed purchase order, please include one registration form for each attendee. We cannot process purchase orders online.

Confirming your registration
We will email you a confirmation packet after you register. This packet will include a map and directions.

Cancellation policy
We accept cancellations received at least 7 days before the workshop date. In the event that you notify us of your intent to cancel, we will provide you with a credit to attend a future workshop, less a 10% handling fee. 

If you cancel less than 7 days before the start of the workshop, you will receive a credit to attend a future workshop, less a 25% handling fee.

If you discover that you will be unable to attend the entire workshop, you may cancel through the end of the 1st day of the workshop, in which case you will receive a credit to attend a future workshop, less a 50% handling fee. After the 1st day of a workshop, cancellation will result in no credit of any kind and your tuition will be forfeited.

You may substitute another person in your place. It’s okay if the replacement teaches a different grade or performs different school duties from you. Call (800-360-6332, ext. 130) or email (registration@responsiveclassroom.org) as soon as possible with any substitution requests.

If you choose not to attend the workshop, for whatever reason, without notification to NEFC before the start date of the workshop, your tuition fee is subject to full forfeiture.

If you find it necessary to cancel for any reason, please make sure that you receive a cancellation number from us. You may be asked to provide us with this cancellation number at a later date when you use your credit or if there is a dispute about your cancellation status.

All credits expire one (1) year from the date that they are issued.

Certificates of attendance:
You will receive a certificate of attendance at the end of the Workshop or Institute indicating that you have attended the full training in the Responsive Classroom approach. This certificate is for those people who have attended the entire Workshop or Institute.

If a you have an emergency or an illness, we will offer a certificate if you have missed no more than one-half day of the Weeklong Institute or, in the case of a One Day Workshop if you have missed no more than one-quarter of the Workshop. If an illness or emergency will take you out of the Workshop or Institute for more than that, you will not receive a certificate for that week but you may receive a credit to attend a future workshop or institute less a 50% handling fee. If you have any questions about this guideline or about a specific situation at your institute, please contact NEFC.

Changing your choice of workshop location:
If you sign up for a particular workshop location and must change your choice later, call (800-360-6332, ext. 130) or email (registration@responsiveclassroom.org) as soon as possible. We will accommodate your request if space is available.

Changing your grade choice:
When you register, you’ll be asked which grade level group you’d like to be placed in. If you register for one grade and later find out you’ll be teaching another grade next year, it’s very important that you call (800-360-6332, ext. 130) or email (registration@responsiveclassroom.org) to tell us of the change.

Inclement Weather:
If NEFC makes the decision to cancel a workshop or institute, we will make sure this information is available via the website and phone. We will post a notice here and we will provide an outgoing message on the registration hotline (800-360-6332, ext. 130).  If there is severe weather, participants can call ahead to confirm that the workshop or institute is still going to run.  If NEFC cancels the workshop we will provide participants a choice of

  • A full refund
  • Transfer to another upcoming workshop or institute date and location (space permitting)
  • Credit towards a future workshop or institute

If you decide not to attend the workshop due to weather conditions, but the workshop or institute has not been cancelled by us, it is important that you call (800-360-6332, ext. 130) or email (registration@responsiveclassroom.org) as soon as possible to let us know.  You will be entitled to receive a credit as per the guidelines indicated on page 1 of this policy. That credit can be applied for one (1) year from the date it was issued towards future training only if you notify us before the start of the workshop or institute.
