Ruth Sidney Charney is a co-founder of Northeast Foundation for Children (NEFC) and the author of Teaching Children to Care. This scholarship, established in Ruth’s honor upon her retirement, provides tuition for an elementary educator who wishes to attend an intermediate or advanced level Responsive Classroom week-long institute this summer, but who lacks the financial means to do so. Applicants must have taken Responsive Classroom I and must satisfy all other prerequisites for the course they choose.

The application period for the 2010 scholarship award has ended, and this year's recipient has been selected. Look for information about next year's Charney Scholarship application process on the Responsive Classroom website, the Responsive blog, and our Facebook page in March 2011.
