Definitions of the Levels
Level 1: Supporting Responsive Classroom implementation
Schools at this level are just beginning their journey with the Responsive Classroom approach. In fact, Level 1 schools may not yet have committed to using the approach schoolwide. These educational communities are currently focusing mostly on supporting Responsive Classroom implementation at the classroom level. Teachers have attended training and begun to implement some strategies in their daily practice. Administrators are learning about the approach and ways they can support teachers in their implementation.
Level 2: Creating a Responsive Classroom school
Teachers in schools at this level have been implementing the approach and are starting to see some real success. Schools or districts have committed to expanding the principles and practices of the approach schoolwide. Adults are coming together as a community and crafting a vision for becoming a Responsive Classroom school.
Level 3: Nurturing a Responsive Classroom school
Schools at this level have been committed to schoolwide implementation for three or more years. Schools are confronting issues of maintaining, sustaining, and growing their Responsive Classroom culture while at the same time tackling new initiatives. |
