If You Cancel
If you provide Northeast Foundation for Children (NEFC) with notice of your cancellation at least 7 days before the event date, we will provide you with a credit to attend a future event, less a 10% handling fee.
If you cancel less than 7 days before the start of the event, you will receive a credit to attend a future workshop, less a 25% handling fee.
If you cancel on the first day of the event, you will receive a credit to attend a future workshop, less a 50% handling fee. If you cancel after the first day, your cancellation will result in no credit of any kind and your tuition will be forfeited. Notification must be received by 9 a.m. for one-day events, and by the end of the first day for multi-day events such as week-long institutes.
If you choose not to attend, for whatever reason, without notification to NEFC before the start date of the event, your tuition fee is subject to full forfeiture.
If you find it necessary to cancel for any reason, please make sure that you receive a cancellation number from us. You may be asked to provide us with this cancellation number at a later date when you use your credit or if there is a dispute about your cancellation status.
All credits expire one (1) year from the date that they are issued.
You may substitute another person in your place instead of cancelling. It’s okay if the replacement teaches a different grade or performs different school duties from you. Call 800-360-6332, ext. 130 or email firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible with any substitution requests.
If We Cancel
Occasionally we find it necessary to cancel a workshop. Northeast Foundation for Children (NEFC) reserves the right to cancel events for any reason, including inclement weather (see below). If NEFC makes the decision to cancel a workshop or institute, we will use the contact information you have provided to us to inform you. If NEFC cancels, participants will be provided a choice of:
- a full refund;
- transfer to another, upcoming workshop or institute date and location (space permitting);
- credit toward a future workshop or institute. (Please note that all credits expire one (1) year from the date that they are issued.)
Certificates of Attendance
A 6-hour certificate of attendance is awarded to one-day workshop participants.
A 28-hour certificate of attendance is awarded to week-long institute participants. You must attend all 28 hours of the week in order to receive the certificate and to count the institute as a prerequisite for further training. In addition, institute participants can earn graduate-level professional development credit (2-credit and 3-credit options) through Brandman University. Learn more about credit options through Brandman University.
If a you have an emergency or an illness, we will offer a certificate if you have missed no more than one-half day of the week-long institute or, in the case of a one-day workshop if you have missed no more than one-quarter of the workshop. If an illness or emergency will take you out of the workshop or institute for more than that, you will not receive a certificate but you may receive a credit to attend a future workshop or institute less a 50% handling fee. If you have any questions about this guideline or about a specific situation at your workshop or institute, please contact NEFC.
Need to Make a Change?
Changing your choice of institute location: If you need to switch to a different location, please call or email as soon as possible. We will accommodate your request if space is available.
Changing your grade-level choice: When you registered you were asked for your grade level. If you registered for one grade and later find out you'll be teaching another, please call or email to tell us of the change. If you did not give a grade preference we will choose a section for you.
Substitutions: Before the institute begins, you may substitute another person in your place. It's okay if your replacement teaches a different grade or performs different school duties from yours. Call or email as soon as possible with any substitution requests.
If there is severe weather, participants should call ahead to confirm that the workshop or institute is still going to run. If we cancel on account of weather, we’ll contact you using the information you have provided to us, and we will put an announcement about the closure on the registration hotline (800-360-6332, ext. 130).
If you decide not to attend the workshop due to weather conditions, but the workshop or institute has not been cancelled by us, it is important that you call 800-360-6332, ext. 130 or email email@example.com as soon as possible to let us know. You will be entitled to receive a credit that can be applied for one (1) year from the date it was issued towards future training only if you notify us before the start of the workshop or institute.
